I'm already on iTunes, how can I sign up since I've already gotten my music online through Apple or CDBaby?

Not a problem. AustinMusicDownload.com does NOT share its content with other music download sites. So if you're on iTunes, CDBaby or Rhapsody or any other sites - great. The ONLY way you can get on AustinMusicDownload is to sign up on our site. There is zero cross-over so you would not be in violation of any agreement with them. We are a closed site as such and only report to you.

When fans download my tracks, will they play on both iPods and other MP3 players?

Yes, you can rest assured that you are selling to 100% of the music download purchasing public. You do not have to choose between Apple or Microsoft. You can have it all.

Do I need to live in Austin to sell on this site?

No. Austin is a music-town. If you have a special connection to Austin or its clubs or studios or wish to play here someday, we welcome you.

What do I need to provide in order to set up an account?

First you need to register on the site and indicate that you wish to be upgraded to an artist status.

Secondly, once you complete your registration, you will receive a PDF document that you will need to print out, read, sign and return to AustinMusicDownload.com as per the instructions in the PDF. Once the document is received you will be upgraded to an artist listing.

I've signed up and want to be an artist, how do I do this?

You must be upgraded to artist level before you can enter the area of the site to be able to upload. In order to be upgraded we need to have the distribution agreement in our hands - you can email a scan of the complete document, you can print it out and mail it back in to our address, you can fax it in 512-251-1107. Once we've had a chance to review it and ensure its legitimate, you will be upgraded.

Once you are upgraded, sign into your account and you'll see across the top of your listing a series of tabs - click on any of those tabs to go to the different areas - biographical information, albums, tracks, news and photo gallery. Its designed to be easy to move around and go through the process of uploading.

I have several artists on my label or I am an indie label but I'd like to manage them in one account - what would you recommend?

You can qualify for a MASTER ACCOUNT. You would need to email info@austinmusicdownload.com so we could set up a master account for you. Then once you have your artists individually set up in different accounts, you email us with which artists are on your label. We "attach" these accounts to your master account and then you will have one user name and password to monitor and manage your artist's accounts.

I have most of this but I don't have a Paypal account?

Paypal accounts are free and you will need one to be paid by AustinMusicDownload.com. However, you can submit your distribution agreement and be upgraded on the site without one. I don’t have mp3s or images and it will require me to get with my engineer, can you just do it for me?

The underlying philosophy of AustinMusicDownload.com is one of individual freedom and its less attractive younger sister, responsibility. Free accounts do not generate the income necessary to pay for a staff to convert WAV files to MP3s and secure ISRC codes. We want to be in the business of providing the platform for you to sell your digital music and driving traffic to the site.

However, if you need assistance, we have a package with minimal costs to convert WAV files, secure ISRC codes for you, upload your tracks and even submit your information to the databases so that when your fans play your CDS on their computers, it will pull up your information. Does this mean I can't get on iTunes or other Digital Music Retailers?

Your agreement with us is NOT exclusive. We encourage you even if you're already on iTunes to post your tracks here and visa versa. Any arrangement you have will not interfere with your music being here and visa versa. AustinMusicDownload is a closed site for content. Only you can get your music here - no one else.

How much will I be paid when my music sells?

You will receive approx 60% of the sale but the details are in the contract. If you would like to receive this information please note it when you register. Unless you indicate that you wish to be upgraded to an artist you will need to re-register.

What if I want to cancel my account for some reason in the future?

While we trust that won't ever be the case, you can cancel your account at any time. We will immediately cease to list your music on the site and once you are paid for any downloads still owed to you all obligation stops between you and AustinMusicDownload.com.

Is there anything I can do to help sell my music or let other people know about the site?

Nothing cheers us up more than that question. We will all get further when we work together. If you like the site, obviously tell your friends and family. Send them links from the home page of the website. At the end of your emails add something like "Purchase my Music at http://www.austinmusicdownload.com". Put a link on your MySpace page, become one of our friends on MySpace, wear your t-shirt, send out the mp3 postcard promotions from the website. Every little bit that helps AustinMusicDownload also helps you.

Why are you doing this - what's the catch?

This site stems from a desire to support the independent musician and record label by providing a truthful, transparent and technologically savvy platform and system so that you can make money and know that you are in control of your digital destiny. You won't be taking our word for how many downloads there were - you'll be running your own reports. You'll see how many downloads have sold and if your fans wish they can share their email addresses with you. Yes, that's right, if your fans choose to do so, you can learn who is buying your music digitally. Right now we don't know of any other site that is providing this level of service and trust. We trust that you will love working with us that you'll continue to work with us.
